Fun Evening On The Motorcycle

We have really missed riding our motorcycle and since it was a wonderful warm day we decided today was the day for a little trip  Mike talked to Randy and Jane and they said one of their relatives was telling him about a great new restaurant in Wauseon, OH.  So off we went at about 5:30pm.  We rode the back roads and it was just wonderful.

All the sights and sounds of the country...small farms, fields, woods, creeks, and rivers.  I love to see the animals in the fields...especially the horses.  I even love to see the Redwing Blackbirds perched on tall weeds in the ditches.  I like to ride past the woods and notice the differences in the temperature when you are on a motorcycle.

It was pretty windy though...thought it might spin my helmet around on my head on the way down to the restaurant.  It took almost an hour to get to Sullivans.
They were having an old car show right in front of it.  After we ate we went quickly through the cars and guess what? .......there was a 1957 Chevy there like the one I learned to drive on.  It was pure white and ours was turquoise and white.....loved that car!  Riding home was so peaceful....

the sky was beautiful.

Had a great time...hope we can ride again soon with Randy and Jane.

Catching up

Well lots has happened since I wrote last.
We went to Europe...actually Italy and Spain with Jewel and Tiffany
Mike retired July 20110
We went on a vacation to visit relatives...Baltimore, Delaware, Virginia, Pensacaloa.
Then we went to Costa Rica to visit with Mike's buddy Larry Sampson
Next we decided to spend some of the Winter in the South...January in Gulf Shores, Alabama
Then we went to a doll show in Orlando, Florida and I met some of my internet friends and also made some new doll friends.
Then back home to a big snow storm and ice storm....lost electricy for 3 days...basement tried to flood...only a little.   Lots of tree branches damaged our backyard fence, large dog house, plants, bushes, and my PussyWillow Tree.

Dumb me...I didn't take pictures of the mess before Mike started cleaning it up.  It was so depressing...tree branches everywhere, the fence broken and the plants, trees, and bushes destroyed.

It took Mike about four days to clean it up...this is just one day's pile before the city came to pick it up.  We did save some of the wood to take to the lake and our neighbor saved some of the wood for him too.
Kelly was in a car wreck...hopefully she wasn't hurt badly...who knows what the future will bring, car was totaled and it wasn't even paid for with the money they gave her.
Bethany car broke down, computer broke down, and she lost her cell phone.
Ben is still not doing well in school.

The Lincoln Lawyer Movie

We are going to a movie called the The Lincoln Lawyer.  Both Mike and I read the book and can't wait to see the movie...hope it is good....I'm pretty sure it will be.

A Boomerang Pillow

I bought the coolest pillow at Wal*mart...it is called a Boomerang Pillow...it is of course shaped like a boomerang.

I love it.  It is good to use to sit up and read or when you are using your computer, and even to watch TV.  It is fun to tuck it under and around you when you are sleeping.  I want to show pictures, but my computer won't let me.

I need a new computer but I am trying to wait until the new operating system on the Apple Computer comes out this summer.

I Still Need Funny Things

Girlie Wisdom!

1. A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills... she has 14 kids but she doesn't really care..

2. One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.

3. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

4. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

5. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you are doing, someone else does.

6. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends..

7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today...

8. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

9. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my panties.

10. Amazing! You hang something in your closet, for a while, and it shrinks 2 sizes!

11. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' .....Now, I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name, and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat.. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!

12.. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing -- and then they marry him.

13. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

Really I'm not bored....I'm still Sad.

Wednesday Was Baked Steak Day

I was in Wal*mart the other day and they had fresh corn on the cob for 20 cents an ear.  Of course I had to buy some.....then I thought we should have baked steak with it...so I had to buy that too.  I bought a lot of both of them, so I could invite the family over.  I told Kelly, I was just going to buy Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes, because they are pretty good and easy.  She wouldn't have that...she decided she would buy potatoes and make them herself.  I thought she might do that.  I fixed french green beans too.  Jewel and Tiffany were the only ones that got to come from her family.  The older boys were at Don's and the twins were at school camp...primitive camp!  Bethany was at work...both jobs today...so I saved her a plate.  Kelly and Ben came.  Ben and Kelly are having some problems.  Ben will not try at school...he sleeps, doesn't listen, won't do his work...as a result he will not graduate from High School.  He is using bad language at school too.  Of course he can easily get his GED, but he is really making bad choices. Kelly says he needs to get a job and get out on his own...not live with her or family.  It makes me so sad....he still has hope, but he has made it so much harder.

What Were We Thinking?

5/24/2011
Today we bought a weed eater, six big burning bushes, and three cute little plants.  What were we thinking?  Who did we think was going to use the weed eater, dig the holes for the bushes, and plant those cute little plants?

Also what about planting the eight Star Gazer Lillies Kelly and Bethany gave me for Mother's Day?   Bethany did go with us to buy the bushes, go to the Happy Rose Restaurant for a Chinese Buffet,

and she did help plant the bushes too (with a little encouragement from Grandpa).

Then she took off for parts unknown with the comment that, "for some reason this was not too much fun".  Mike told her that was all part of being a home owner....she will probably never want to own a home.  I'll put some pictures in tomorrow....right now I'm just too tired.
Remember the PussyWillow Tree?

Well look at it now...it was about nine feet high and the branches broke it off to a stub.  It is growing lots of branches...I wanted to trim it down a lot but was afraid I would kill it....Nature did it for me.

Cleaning House and New Goals

I'm still trying to put away all the things we brought home from our vacation....not new things...just things we packed.  Yuk...what a mess it makes when you unload the car.
Also, I am making new life goals...lose weight...what's new?...and don't need the millions of expensive medications I have to take.
Well, I didn't get much done in cleaning.....
I did try to eat better but in retrospect I can see I ate too many carbs and shouldn't have eaten one and one half Little Debbie Oatmeal Cookies.
I will try to do better tomorrow and maybe I will start writing down what I eat on Spark People.
I did go to the gym and spa...love the pool and hot tub....didn't like the exercise very well...actually didn't exercise much more than 10 or so minutes....I figured getting there today was pretty good.
As I said on FaceBook, that exercise made me feel like I was 100 years old.

Michigan Schools, Teachers, Students, And Retirees Are in Trouble

5/22/11
And that Trouble Is Governor Rick Snyder!
Yesterday Kelly and I went to a MEA supported protest by Michigan Teachers against the way Gov. Snyder is attacking the students, teachers, and retirees of our state. He does not care about Michigan students, teachers, or retirees. His motto is take everything good away.  He wants to support tax cuts to big business and the super rich by cutting the basic needs of children and the elderly.

Kelly at the capital.

Some people want Teachers to be tough.

Many, many people were there
not just Teachers and Retirees.

Other Unions were there to support the Teachers....MEA.  The Teamsters sent members and big semi trucks.

As you can see Gov. Snyder was not very popular....we signed petitions to recall him.

I didn't want to go at first, but members of our union kept impressing upon us how important it was to make our presence known. I'm really glad that I did end up going; not only did I learn some things, but it felt good to be a part of this group that is fighting against some major wrongs in our government. And the MEA had a great, delicious picnic lunch for us...we literally did not spend a penny other than the gas to go up there!

Listen too this U-tube, you won't believe anyone can do this to the citizen of the USA.
