My Birthday....August 29, 2011

August 29th

Today was my birthday and here are a few pictures. It was a good day....my youngest daughter Jewel and her family, cooked a turkey dinner....what a surprise.  Then they ordered my favorite desert...Sugar Cookies, homemade by a friend Carol...just the best!

And then even presents. Two of the Grandkids couldn't be here so we will take family pictures later.....it was very nice.  A great way to end August for me.

Kelly The Teacher....Jewel The Nurse

I am feeling a little jealous. "Kelly just won Teacher of the Year" award in Adrian Public Schools.  I was a teacher there too and I didn't win a teacher of the year award.  I don't think they had them when I was teaching, but it still isn't fair....I want an award too.  Every where we go...whether it is the mall, grocery store, hospital or wherever and people find out that Kelly and Jewel are my daughters they tell me what a wonderful teacher and nurse they are.  They all want their family to be in Kelly's class and if they are sick they want only Jewel for their nurse.  That makes me proud but what about me?  I think I should get an award for "Retired Teacher of the Year"!  After all I taught for 37 and 1/2 years!  Where's my award?

I'm just trying to be funny.....I am so very proud of both of them

What An Exciting August I Have Had!

I have traveled from Michigan to the West Coast of the USA, then home to Michigan and then to the East Coast of the USA all in the month of August 2011.  What a great time I have had.   We went to San Francisco and then up the Coast to Oregon and Seattle with my brother Steve and his wife Cathy.  The scenery was breath-taking  we got lots of pictures...check out my vacation blog.  Then we were home for two days and Mike, Kelly, Ben, and I drove to Virginia to see my sister Donna and her husband Johnny.  We had a great time there....love the mountains.  After that we headed to Delaware to visit my sister Lynn and her husband Bill and son Christopher.  What fun we had there with more of the family also visiting there.  Boy did we have that Farrel house full to the brim.  We hunted sea glass, Cape May Diamonds, swam in the Ocean, shopped, went to the boardwalk, experienced an Earthquake, and got chased home by Hurricane Irene.  This was a vacation we will never forget.
